I know, I know. I have an old 2012 iMac sitting around, and I saw a rare 3.4 logic board with the 2gb gpu for a very good price. Too good to be true, right? Well I was congratulating myself after installing it (it was several months before I got around to it). Put in dual SSD's with Bootcamp on one of them. Worked great but only 8gb of ram. After a few more months, I finally saw some 8gb ram sticks at a decent price and sprung for them. But the last laugh is on me. The top two ram slots don't work. I tried every combination of ram sticks, the old 4gb and the new 8gb. Compressed air, moving the sticks in and out of the slot repeatedly. Bottom two slots boot with anything. Top two...nothing but three long beeps. Too late to get my money back.

So that's my long-winded way of asking if I could put two 16gb sticks in the bottom two slots and call it a day? Does Ivy Bridge support 16gb in one slot? Appreciate anyone that has done this sharing their experience with me!

As OWC sell memory for your model, which I guess is the 27" model, in only 8GB modules, 2x8GB, or 4X8GB, suggest the 16GB is not compatible.

Where did you purchase this memory? Not a PC shop or fleabay I trust? This is from OWC so check the specs:-

Thanks for your reply. I bought G.Skill low latency sticks 9-9-9-28, 1.35v. They work fine in the lower two slots. When I put anything (original apple sticks one at a time or both) in the upper two, no post-

I know much of the information that's out there was put out before 16gb modules became available, so I'm hoping someone might have tried it. I'm not going to tear the whole thing apart again, but just thought I'd ask. Thank you-
