Hi, what OS did you upgrade from? It is possible that if you did not update all native apps prior to upgrade (advised) then current (updated) versions have been installed. Check the version numbers in "About" in the menu bar for each and place the older versions in the trash. DO NOT empty the trash yet. Check that the newer versions can open the appropriate libraries (you may have to point the way) and iPhoto may need to update the iPhoto Library, if all is well you can empty the trash.

OK, something's not right. One icon is the old app and, in each case, the new icon says it is an "App Store Download", and they are several hundred KB in size rather than the multi-MB of the real app. I just downloaded these last night, and it was well over 3.5 GB total, and the App Store application says they were installed last night also. But it says, above that, that the same three updates are available. A known El Cap bug?

This is my daughter's computer, and I had forgotten she still had AppleCare in effect. Per AppleCare help, I was directed to force quit the App Store app and trash the "App Store Download" files and re-download those three Apple apps. All seems good, and although the App Store app still shows two copies of each update installed, the Application folder has the appropriate current versions - one each.
