Anyone having issues with this? I signed up for it upon installing 10.11 thinking why not, I always have my phone and it's a nice security measure. Trouble is, it's preventing me from accessing my account at all.

Whenever I try to log into manage my apple ID, it says that a code has been sent to my Mac, the computer I'm on, but it doesn't ever appear. Following that, I ask for a text/phone call instead, and it says it's been sent but again, I never receive it.

If I go to iforgot.apple.com to reset it, the phone number I use is being accepted, so the right number is there and I am getting a code sent to my phone - trouble is, it's not letting me past that screen. It says the code is always invalid. I'm still not getting a code popping up on my mac like it claims, though, with "To reset your Apple ID password, follow the instructions sent to 's Mac". After trying this for a while, it eventually locked my account completely and now when I try anything it's coming up with a server service error.

Anyone know of a workaround? My apple ID has actually locked now. Does apple have a contact phone number for just Apple ID issues? Or is this just not working because it's beta and I'll have to deal with it for a few weeks?

I've been having this problem as well, making it impossible for me to use iTunes. Probably something I'm missing, or maybe the service isn't fully available yet.

El Capitan started the upgrade process of 2FA from 4 digit codes to 6 digits. Unfortunately it seems that the new 6-digit codes are incompatible with iOS 8. Were you given an option to switch to the new system and did you switch?

In my case I was never given an option to switch to 6-digit and so I'm still on 4-digit and working smoothly.

Probably was given an option at same point and didn't notice it (my usual click click click OS installation mindset unless something sounds alarming haha). I found a work around on Apple forums though. So if anyone else has problem using things like iTunes on El Capitan Beta and aren't being sent a code on their phones:

Verify your iCloud account in the system settings and enabling find my mac, making the computer a "trusted device". This allows the six digit code to be sent to your computer, which is then added to the end of your account's usual password on iTunes. For example, password777777. The same code this generates can also be used to bypass the verification code on the manage Appleid site as well.

If you are having trouble getting codes from Apple, for signing up for 2-factor authentication, password resets etc..., You might have shortcodes blocked by your cell provider. Call your provider and ask them if shortcakes are blocked.

Can you access 'Account Details' in iCloud preferences on your Mac? None of the tabs load for me and so this tells me the 2FA isn't completely ready yet however it might just be my machine.
