Sorry for the stupid question. When I installed ios7 last year, I thought I had activated two-factor authentication (at least I remember getting SMS messages for a lot of devices). With the news about App Specific Passwords, I was expecting a message from Apple. However, none appeared, and it looks like I do not have two factor authentication activated. I'm wondering what it was I did last year then. Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks. I should have mentioned that I checked that site, and I'm being asked to set it up, which led me to believe that it isn't.
I guess my question is whether anyone remembers whether ios7 prompted us to set up two factor authentication upon installation, or whether it may have been something else (e.g, Find my Phone?). As I said, I'm just confused because I remember having set it up so I had to do something with SMS messages on my phone for each of my i devices (but I don't remember whether it was for Mavericks as well.

Right, got that. As I mentioned I don't know - can't remember it asking me to do so.
iOS 7 did not prompt the user to set it up (neither does iOS 8, BTW). In fact, Apple hasn't really advertised the feature at all before the recent "fappening" (which probably also has to do with the fact that it was only a half-hearted implementation until recently).
Apple does send out notifications when new devices are added to certain iCloud services such as iMessage and iCloud Keychain. Perhaps that's what you remember.
