It was the cd that caused the problem, not the imac. I tried putting the same cd in another devise and I got the same problem. The imac is working great.
MY new imacS sucks. I just bought my new 24 inch imac yesterday. I come home, turn it on for the first time and what happens? It froze on me. What a great first impression. I've been a long time pc user and I have never had a pc freeze on me on the first power-up. NOT ONCE. One of my main reason for switching to a mac was because I "heard" that macs have less problems compared to a pc. Well, so far, this is not the case. Moving on.
Today, I returned the heavy peice of paper weight to the apple store where I made the purchase. Got another imac and came home. I was willing to make it work. I'm all about second chances. I turned my second imac on today and what happens? Bliss...Everything worked great. It didn't freeze or anything and the screen was so shiny. I couldn't believe how happy it made me. The fact that the brand new $1800.00 computer turned on without freezing. You know, I never had that with my pc.
My second imac worked fine. Until, I droped a cd in the imac. It is refusing to spit the cd back out. Is this a joke? Why am I going through so much trouble with a brand new computer? A brand new apple nontheless, if this was a pc, I might not even care. But apple is suppose to be better no? I pushed the eject button located on my keyboard. No response. The computer shows that it is busy (I'm guessing with ejecting the cd) with the fruity circular thingy. To make things worse, NOTHING works.
I did some digging and found out if you shut the computer down and turn it back on with the eject button pressed down, the cd pops out (it was easy to find another person with the same problem). i tried it and it worked. my cd is now out of the imac. for the hell of it, i inserted back into the imac. it took the cd in and i was able to eject it without a problem. i tried a third time. its stuck again. i decided to leave it in the imac. i've had enough of this crap. i'm going to sleep on it and see how i feel tomorrow. i dont know if i want to go through with this again. its alot of work carrying the imac around. as of right now, i want a full refund and i want to go back to that familiar pc world i'm so used to. but a small portion of me wants to explore what apple has to offer.
did the previous gen imac have similar issues? i uderstand this is the new imac, but come on, its not like its a completely new model.
