I just moved my music library from my macbook to an external hdd attached to a mac mini serving as a HTPC. I consolidated the library on the macbook and everything works/looks same as before.

On the mac mini, as it's new, I pointed iTunes to the same folder on the external HDD but after updating the library, a handful of albums are missing artwork yet they are not missing on the macbook. I tried using the 'get album artwork' option in iTunes but received message stating it could not be found. I also tried adding the artwork manually by dragging an image, either from the 'Get Info' box on the macbook into a shared folder and then dragging the same file into the Artwork box of 'Get Info' for the same album on the mini or from an image found on the web and nothing changes--appears to be saved in the artwork box but it isn't there when you go back into 'Get info'. When I select an individual song on any of these albums, the Artwork tab of 'Get Info' is grayed out and cannot be selected.

Sorry for the long explanation but I cannot figure out why this is happening and only on a few albums. Additional notes--all albums were ripped from my personal CDs, not purchased through iTunes and none of them are obscure--Foo Fighers, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Any thoughts on how to resolve this? Thanks.

Is it possible that the artwork was pulled from iTunes on your macbook but since then the music store no longer has the artwork available, so the server can't get it?

The artwork is still showing in my music library on my macbook so it's saved somewhere--just don't know where. And if iTunes on both computers is pointing to the exact same folder on the same external, why show on one and not the other?

Thanks for you thought.
