Why would you want 2 of the same iPhone? Maybe if you had one given as a work phone, then your personal one, would maybe make sense, is that what you mean?

Exactly but even then still your right.

I personally would go about this in a different way. Instead of asking myself if it makes sense to have two of the same model I would ask myself how I use those phones.

As an example this is my case:

Work phone
  1. Lots of use for emails (reading, sometimes I might also need to answer them)
  2. Lots of use for company chat (texting)
  3. Use of Microsoft apps (mostly Word, Powerpoint and Excel files)
  4. Use of OneDrive (iOS btw does not play that nice with OneDrive or it is versa - either way there are some issues there)
  5. Reliable connection (WIFI and mobile data) really important
  6. Battery life really important
  7. Rare use of phone or messages
  8. Camera might be used for scanning documents or for capturing whiteboards concepts and post its boards
Personal phone

  1. Phone gets more used
  2. Use camera a lot for taking photos and videos
  3. Social media apps
  4. Music apps (Spotify)
  5. Navigation apps
  6. Browsing in internet
  7. Reliable connection (WIFI and mobile data) really important
  8. Battery life really important
So based on this for example I would say that screen size for me matters slightly more for the work phone than on the personal one. On the other side I would say that for work I do not need the best camera system out there. So this is how I would decide on a setup that makes sense for me if I had the choice. We do not choose the phones they would give us at work, the company decides so it is a bit moot point for me. I can choose only my personal one but then I would choose it based on my needs no matter what the company would give me as a work phone.

If you don't mind me asking, did you choose to use the SE for work or it was the company that decided for you (similar to my case)?

The reason I am asking is because SE would seem small for my needs for a work phone. Not that I am not in similar camp as you. My work phone is iPhone 8 (same screen size as yours, worse performance).

Company choice but to be honest it’s the phone I would have chosen as the size is perfect for one handed use for phone calls and checking emails. Battery life isn’t amazing but all I use it for is emails and calls anyway so does the job abd lasts all day

Got it. Thanks! Indeed it is compact. I am OK with using iPhone 8 or reading emails but it gets more complicated if I have to answer them. There I would have preferred slightly bigger screen but it is not like they are asking me :D .

True I tend to just view them and reply on my work machine or my mac I use for work. I’m not sure I could use it as my main phone but if I had to could cope for a month or so if I needed to use if I sold my pro max before the new one came out for example

Is there any point of having 2 models of the same iPhone?

I have no real use case for multiple phones honestly. I film a lot and use one older phone from years ago as extra video camera in my studio but that’s about it.

Easy guideline: if you have to ask others, it’s not a need.

Same size? Not really. But a Pro Max and a Mini would make sense for some people.

Interesting idea. What’s the use case for two screens in small size compared to say a small phone plus a tablet?

Definitely a wise choice to have two identical iPhones if you can afford it.
One can be the Guinea pig test mule for new apps and iOS software while safely keeping your main phone protected from the bug onslaught

Which malicious app or major malfunction have you evaded with that approach last?

If you’re not a software developer or tester checking out beta software I don’t see who’d have the time. Unemployed, children and seniors excluded.

I did use my SE 2016 for less than one day before my 12 pro max arrived. I was happy to go back to a bigger phone lol I could use it for a few days I think. Not longer.

Funny how for quite a while that was my favorite iPhone. Even while owning my XS Max as my daily, I still had a thing for the pocket-ability of SE, swapping them regularly. Looking at it now, I don't know I ever used that size phone. It feels like a toy to me now.

Something like the XR would be a good “work phone” imo. Large display, good battery life. I wouldn’t spend 850 on another 12 for a work phone. My line of work doesn’t require a work phone anyway but that’s probably what I would purchase.

This is the perfect example of asking a question without providing enough information to expect people to be able to respond thoughtfully.

Which of course does not stop people from responding anyway!

What more info do you need?? Is there a scenario or reason it makes sense?? What he’s asking and what people are answering...lmao

i would get 2 of the 12 Pro Max IF i had the money lmao... but i find it easier to use an Android for work and iPhone for personal use. Thus i use the Tab S7+ for work and just leave it at the office when i go home. No im not saying iPad Pro isnt good but as a matter of fact its actually the best tablet out there right now but i cant make calls with it thus opting it out.

Same use here, though I have the 12 instead. I bought the SE 2020 to use for work as they subsidized the cost. The battery isn't great, but I love the size and I've gotten used to the smaller keyboard when I type emails and text co-workers.
