I stared a new job about a month ago, and in my office there are two old G4 Powerbooks. One is a 400Mhz with 128mb PC100 ram. It boots and works fine, but the display bezel is split open as sometimes happens with these old PBs. The other one is a 667Mhz with no ram at all, but the case is in awesome shape. I don't have a PC133 stick laying around, and it gave me three-beeps with the 128 PC100 from the other PB.
Given the price of PC133 laptop ram is pretty insane, do you think it's worth buying some to try it? If the 667 machine works, I can basically have it for free-- as long as I return it when I'm done with it.
My co-worker has no idea if the machine worked prior to someone ninjaing the ram.
The other option, if the 667 machine is dead, would be to swap the displays... Does anyone know if they are compatible?
