Curious how to handle this:

- Mom's old iphone 8 is hosed and can only stay on for maybe 3-5minutes at a time
- everything is backed up to icloud (photos, contacts, etc) except her messages
- about to buy a new iPhone 14

Since the phone won't stay on long enough to do an iphone > iphone wireless transfer or itunes backup, would it make sense to try to enable imessages in icloud on the old phone and have it slowly sync those messages up over the course of a few hours/days?

I'm just not sure if you can leave 2 phones signed into the same icloud account like that or if it will cause massive issues. I'm also not sure if the in those 3-5 minutes icloud sync w/ messages would even happen fast enough.

That’s no problem. I’ve got two iPhones, an iPad and two Macs syncing to one account. I’ve had more setup on one account.

Interesting, I wonder how it prioritizes which is the source of truth if a file is deleted, added, etc.
