:apple:Hello,

I just bought the Imac 24inch 3.06 with 2gig of ram and the 750gig hard drive,

My questions were should I buy the Applecare ? I havent yet and was thinking about getting it. Is it worth it ? Did I have to buy it when I bought the computer or can I buy it now ?

2nd, I only went with 2 gigs of memory from apple, but want to go up to 4 gig, who should I buy it from ? any ideas who has the best memory for Imacs?

Any how to guides on how to install it ?

Thanks !

welcome to the sane side of computing

Congratulations.

Buy the Applecare.

Buy the RAM from Newegg or owc - If you are running parallels or fusion for windows Virtual Machines or other heavy video editing or cs3, you need the additional two gig. If you are only surfing and doing office stuff, probably overkill.

Thanks for the advice, I just bought the applecare for the Imac - $119 + tax.
As for the memory I love newegg, is there a certain brand I should buy ? or type ?

thanks

I count six questions there

but yes, GET applecare! it's a must
everyone you talk to is american, it's worth it right there

and i went with owc for the ram, worked great

I would highly recommend Patriot ram from Newegg!!! Its a little more expensive than other ram on Newegg but it has worked in every Mac I have put it in!!! Here are the list of Macs that I have put Patriot ram in:

Power Mac Dual 1.8ghz G5 - 8 Sticks of 1GB Patriot Ram
Macbook Rev A - 2 Sticks of 1GB Patriot Ram
My Wife's Dell Laptop - 2 Sticks of 512mb Patriot Ram (Yeah I know not a Mac)
My friends Mac Mini C2D - 1 Stick 1GB and 1 Stick 2GB Patriot Ram.

I am about to help my brother get an iMac and you can bet I am going to put Patriot ram in it. And I am getting a G4 Mac Mini either today or tomorrow and I am going to put 1 stick of 1GB ram in it.

I love Patriot, it works well and its is really well priced.

My two cents!!!

As most other have already said....

AppleCare - yes, buy it! I have owned it on prior machines and have had to use it. Very good insurance to have.

3rd party ram - I got my 4GB from Crucial for my 3.06GHz iMac that is on a delivery truck right now.
