Hello,
I was wondering if connecting two Radeon 5770's to a 2008 Mac Pro would cause any problems. Problems like it not lining up with the two PCI Express 2.0 x16 in the machine. And even if it didn't. Could I still use the card in a PCI x4 slot and just live with the slower performance...?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank You,
Mythlin

I have two 5770s in my 2008 Mac Pro. Works great. The 5770 only uses one power connector and there are two on the motherboard.

The second 5770 blocks the third PCI slot, so you lose a slot doing this.

And the 5770 only has 1 gb of VRAM. :-(

Btw, with two of the $99 adapters, the 5770 will drive three monitors. I found performance of 3x30 on a single 5770 poor for iPhoto but scrolling and text are fine.

Thank you very much! This was exactly what I was looking for. Again, thanks!
I have one more question for you though. Are the 5770's running on the two PCIe 2.0 X16 slots? Or is one running on the x4 slot? And well, that's a bummer about losing a slot. But oh well, I really only needed one more slot for the RAID Card anyways.

Thanks,
Mythlin
