Two Step Authentication for Outlook 2016

I am not having much luck with authenticating into Outlook 2016 on my Mac. I have done some searches but nothing I've found is helping. I generated a two step password from Apple, but that hasn't worked.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

You mean, you created an App Specific password in iCloud account settings for Outlook to use to access iCloud emails?

I have successfully done this with other email clients, never tried with Outlook. But, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work. Here is MS article on configuring it. Basically, App Specific passwords allow apps to access the emails, but you cannot login to the account settings using it.
