Two weeks for delivery of BTO Mini

The BTO Mini I ordered on Christmas Day won't be available for pick-up until January 9. That's two weeks, which seems crazy long. The config I ordered can't be that hard: i7 hex core, 500 GB SSD, 32 GB of ram (I know, I know, but I just don't want to crack it open - ruined a 2011 Mini once by not knowing - though I followed the iFixit video very carefully - the fan controller connection is soldered to the MOBO).

Anyone else have wait times to share? Is this to be expected due to holiday rush?

It’s just luck of the draw for stock. I’m sure there were more people ordering your configuration than mine. Same except 2TB SSD.

It’s possibly due to holiday shipping delaying everything. If you ordered through a reseller they also have crazy long wait times for BTO. I asked one in November about i7/64/512 and was told it’d arrive January.

It won't take two weeks. Apple always quotes the worst case and then they beat it. That's better than doing it the other way around.

Thanks - mine's coming direct from Apple. I have an employee purchase program discount that makes the pricing slightly more palatable.

Well I was coming from a late 2012 iMac so it’s a big upgrade for me.

Funny I only remembered to update my signature this morning! I’m too much of a wose to upgrade my own RAM on a £3k machine.

Enjoying it though. Just need a few more USB C accessories for it!

I ordered my BTO today and received shipping notification same day that it will be delivered in 2 days

My BTO took around two weeks which is not that uncommon for this time of year. It did come from a reseller (my friends took over 3 weeks). It really depends on your location too - Sometimes you’ll get lucky though!

B&H Photo has a lot of the so-called "Build to order" Macs in stock. When I got my MacBook Air, they were the only vendor that had the configuration I wanted. Was visiting a friend in NYC at the time and picked it up at the store immediately. None of the Apple stores had it. So I always check with them when looking for a new Mac. Of course, if you aren't here in the US that won't be a very good option.
