I am so excited! This is my first ever Mac. UPS delivered my white 2.16ghz 120gb last night at about 8:00pm. There is alot to learn, but I think I am picking up on things naturally. Like for example I just figured out you can scroll the webpages easily using two fingers on the trackpad. Genius!

There is one disappointment though. I discovered a dead pixel last night around the middle of the screen. It isn't even really noticeable though unless I am LOOKING for it. Just the fact that I know it's there.. kind of bothers me. Oh well though, I'll live!

are these not covered under warranty?

Dude...thats practically a good thing. Especially if its not really noticeable like you said.

I'm pretty sure that thats covered by applecare or your warranty.

But here's what you should do....just live with it.......

Until the release the new macbooks with LED and Santa Rosa(maybe when leopard comes out)

Then you call apple and tell them there is a dead pixel or whatever.....and they might just replace your computer with a new one!!!!!!

Is it dead or stuck? What colour is it? Stuck pixels can sometimes be coaxed back to life. Apples policy on dead pixels is pretty well industry standard: 5 or more but you might get lucky especially if you ask sooner rather than later.

One dead pixel isn't going to warrant a replacement so I think you're stuck with it for now. It surely isn't that much of a problem, my monitor has a dead pixel and it doesn't bother me much at all.

Shame about the pixel, it's like a scratch on your car... no one else notices but it bothers you; call Apple anyway and see what they say.

Enjoy your Mac. ;)

As I keep telling people, it's not about learning to ignore it, it's about deciding you like it! It's a birthmark!!! :)

Enjoy the Mac, my first Mac was a MacBook too and I love it to bits (no dead pixels on mine though :D ). I'd say don't worry about the pixel but I know it would bug me, so I'd ring Apple and see what they say (although you shouldn't get your hopes up). You'll pick up the OS quite easily, and it's way better than Window$. I'm using a Windows XP machine now (at work :( ) and all I can say is it sucks!

Make sure you look around on the net and on these forums as you can always find help/guides with any problems you have.

Enjoy the MacBook, it'll become an integral part of your life :p
