Big Sur 11.0.1 on a new 16" MBP. The lag when typing is killing me. Occurs in pretty much every app, although a .txt document in TextEdit is somewhat useable.

The OS install is 24hrs old, so presumably it has finished with indexing and anything else it needs to do in the background (including completin a full Time Machine backup overnight).

I'm surprised I'm not finding much mention of this.

Anyone else?

EDITED TO ADD: the issue survives a boot into safe mode (holding down shift at startup).

I have this problem too! Did you find a solution? Whenever I type anything, I can notice that after every 10-20 characters, there's a short but noticeable lag before the rest of the characters show up. I think there's a similar lag when scrolling and zooming webpages.

It's super annoying, it reminds me of the times when you had a super slow computer with hardly any RAM and it would be constantly using the virtual memory. Except I have 32 GB of RAM.

I think this only started happening on Big Sur. Wasn't the case with Catalina. I'm running 11.0.1 (20B29) on a maxed out MacBook Pro 16 inch.

A bit old thread but I am now experiencing the same lag on my 2019 MBP. Big Sur, latest update done last week.
It's present in every app, but especially annoying in iMessage.
Anyone found a solution?
