Typing on the iPad ?

Hey guys ive had an ipad for around 4 months bought it to take notes for uni, though i bought it just before summer break so i havent really used it atall, im planning on buying pages and using it to take lecture notes for 1-2 hour lectures in bullet point lists.

Just wondered which way round is best and how well it does the job of taking notes, also i assume pages is the best app for this ?

I have been using Docs 2 Go personally, and think it is great! Really easy to do bullets, just a couple taps and couple more to change the indentations.

is it much cheaper than pages? and have you used it to compare? just seems like going with an official app would be the best choice.

Just a few threads out of many more that talk all about the best notetaking apps for the iPad. Hint: Pages isn't the best one out there. ;)

I use Evernote, Mental Note, and Simplenote. Everyone has their favorites. I suggest trying out a few of the free ones and then move onto paid ones if the free ones don't work for you. (Evernote and Simplenote are both free).

thanks guys, just wondered is drop box the best way to get files off the ipad ? and which the the best app with drop box integration ? there seems to be so many choices i want to narrow it down to just a few to look at. Note it will be used with Word only not a Mac with pages.

DropBox is awesome and has an app for the iPad and the iPhone

yeah just wondered, can you throw documents stored in word processors into it off the ipad? and open files in the drop box on the ipad into the word processing app ? or does the app have to have its own dropbox integration to work like this ?
 
Typing is surprisingly easy once you get used to not having tactile feedback. It only took around 10-15 minutes of typing before I was able to fluently type 60-75 gwam on the iPad. Which is pretty good. I can type around 80-90 on my Apple wireless keyboard and maybe a few more on my PowerBooks keyboard. So I figure thats pretty good, for not having a real keyboard.

I find Pages isn't the best for note taking. Just use the note app if you just want something simple. Or there is always all the 3rd party apps. Play around and see what you like.

Yes iDisk and Drobox allow you to do that, PDF can open (export) to iBooks, Word Documents to Pages, Spreadsheet to Numbers and so on (if you have the application installed of course)

so can i save back into the drop box from the ipad after editing a document ?

is this just for pages? or all apps, i thought documents2go can save back ? i dont have mobme so no idisk

Documents2go Pro does....

('Documents To Go Premium' only)
Download, view and edit your files from your Google Docs, Box.net, Dropbox, MobileMe iDisk or SugarSync account directly in Docs To Go. Any changes you make can be saved and synchronized back to the online account so that you'll always have the most up-to-date version. You can even create new files in Docs To Go and upload them immediately to your account.
