Hi, I have a problem with my MacBook Pro, late 2013 model.

If I type on the keyboard and simultaneously hold in the touchpad, the keyboard won't type (or rather won't input until I let go of the touchpad).
I would prefer to disable this setting, however I can't find the option to do so.

Anyone know where the option is?

Thanks for the help :)

Can you explain it in more detail? I just tried resting my palms on the trackpad and typing on the keyboard, and it worked perfectly. What exactly doesn't work for you?

When I click and hold in on the touchpad the keys I type on the keyboard won't show up on the screen until I let go of the touchpad.
I asked my friend, who also has a mac (albeit not the same model), and he didn't have the same problem.

Ah, now I understand. I don't think you can do anything about it. Clicking and holding on the touchpad is just like clicking the mouse. The app receives a message that you are about to reposition the cursor, but that you haven't done so. So yes, you can't type anything until you have completed the click. This is how Mac apps have worked since, well, forever.

If it's supposed to do that, I don't understand how it doesn't happen on my friend's mac.

I'd assume that there was some miscommunication involved. I can also imagine that some apps have non-standard behaviour (although I don't think I have ever seen an app that would process text input when the mouse button is down).

I did it in chrome, and attempted to replicate it on my friend's mac myself, so I don't believe it's a result of miscommunication.
