Hello,

Next year, I will -- hopefully -- be double majoring in Graphic Design and Mass Communication. I want to get a head start on some design principles and theories. I was wondering if any experienced Graphic Designers or Artist could recommend a few books and/or DVDs regarding the following:

1) Typography
2) Color Theory
3) Layout and Design
4) Anything else that anyone thinks is crucial to the learning process.

Thanks!

Cheers,
Alex

You can also seldom go wrong with anything with Swiss and Design in the title.

That is one hell of a list of good books.

But you are missing one thing for the budding graphic designer/creative:

Nathan Barley (DVD)

This is what to avoid when embarking on a design education - the scathing critique of London trendy idiots.

It's well Mexico.
