Forgive me if this has been dealt with elsewhere but I've tried a search without any success.

I know that with the iPhone 2G the phone worked with a Simplicity sim if the iPhone was jailbroken, and more recently I think, even if it wasn't.

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that the new PAYG iPhones (3G) will work with the Simplicity sim, except that you won't get Visual Voicemail or Call Merging.

I need to know for sure so I'd be grateful if anyone could post a definitive answer.

Does it work? What are the limitations in functionality, if any?

Hi

I'm using my simplicity sim in the O2 PAYG iphone. It works fine and like you say there's no visual voicemail but there is everything else from what I gather. I got the unlimited data as my free bolt-on and the person who did the jailbreak for me for me said that if you haven't got unlimited data it's best to keep the 3G and Edge turned off as much as possible otherwise you'll run up a huge bill. If you're at home and have wifi use that to connect to the internet instead.

Thanks for confirming what I had suspected. That's very useful.

Are you sure that a jailbreak was necessary though?

I had the JB because I wanted to be able to send MMS ,have a video camera, improve the functionality of the camera and get landscape text messaging.

Condering that the Swirly MMS won't work for some reason, I haven't found a non-buggy SMS that gives me an inbox and landscape text messaging, I can't send the videos to anyone, and the snapture program for the camera won't work either, it could be argued that it wasn't necessary to jailbreak my phone.

However, I have managed to get a picture I took as the background to my phone, which I could only do with Winterboard program you can only get after a jailbreak, so that's cool.

Good luck with it.

I understand the attractions of jailbreaking and was very familiar with the process (and indeed unlocking) when I had a 2G iPhone, but I've lost touch with current methods.

Not to worry though because I stumbled across a thread on this topic on the O2 forums. The good news is that Simplicity sims will work in the PAYG without Jailbreaking.

Thanks for your help.
