And I have to say, it's actually smoother than Android on my Nexus right now. That's just... wow.
I would love to try it on my S4 but it looks like it is only working on the Nexus family of devices right now....
i'm excited, most of the reviewers and experts are pretty impressed by ubuntu and call it the best alternative to android. let's see what happens

Mainly because I spent a lot of time customizing my Nexus 4 to my liking, what I've done is purchased a second one just for Ubuntu.
Now that I've been using it for some time I am truly enjoying it. The direction they are headed is a good one, and at the current rate of development there's going to lots for those who are not developers to enjoy as it advances to that stage.
If you are interested I would highly endorse the idea of following the project. It's turning out better, sooner than I originally expected. Although there are still plenty of rough edges being worked on, it's fast, fun and soon to be very stable.

Well I tried some standalone launchers, some themes with the corresponding launchers, wallpapers, etc.
Not too shabby to tell the truth though my experience would be dwarfed by those loading Ubuntu for android. I do not think it too long to wait for new tablets to show up for me to try.
We will see how Ubuntu stacks up in the future.

I kinda forgot about it shortly after it was released. The hype seems the have died down quite a bit.
Can you share what guide/instructions you used? I have a Nexus 4 that I don't really use and would like to try this out. Also, is it hard to go back to Android? I'm ok with flashing ROMs and stuff like that.
The good news is you have an ideal phone to use for this. I didn't require a guide mainly because I have years of both desktop & mobile OS design / development experience.
For those who seek assistance there's a wealth of information that's growing daily due to the immense popularity within the enthusiast community. There's a huge well established Ubuntu forum with links to this mobile OS as well as many other resources that you'll find via Google.
The beauty of trying Ubuntu to see if you like it, which frankly nearly everyone I know does, is that if for some reason you wish to return to Android version 4.0 or higher, that transition is very straightforward.
If you enjoy learning this is a very rewarding project.
