Ars reviewed a new feature coming to Ubuntu named Unity. They have put some thought into this and I believe this is going to be very good for netbook users. One thing I'm wondering about is how to manage the windows that are minimized. I'm guessing clicking on the application in the dock restores those windows.

I agree. I still have my trusty Dell Mini 9 that keeps on ticking. I'm really eager to see if any of these tricks make it to the desktop version.

I think Ubuntu is going to use a global menu in 10.10. They're copying the Mac. I like the look of this Unity, though, and I think I'll give it a go when it's ready.

I tried it in VMWare. It needs some optimisation (but it could be a graphics driver issue). Clicking on the ubuntu logo gives you a nice expose view.

The big problem is once you get out of the launcher environment you enter the world of desktop applications which aren't really designed for typical netbook screens.
