Ughhh, anyone else unable to decide between an ip5s and a N5?!? How to sync the 2?

Ugh, usually I have no issues making decisions and I've always been a one phone man, although that still meant I switched often. This is the first time I have been stuck between 2 phones and it's annoying because it's tough to sync contacts, text messages, etc etc.

iPhone 5s: It's so freakin smooth, and it's perfect as a "phone", it allows me to get business done. But it's NO FUN at all, nothing to tweak, play with, and the screen is useless for anything fun or recreational, and can be useless for business functions like browsing the web.

Nexus 5: It's so much FUN, beautiful screen, incredible tweakability, but it's not as polished or rock solid as the ip5s in basic functions like calls and texting.

Anyone else in this dilemma? Is there any way I can meld these 2 phones together and create what I really want?!?!

In any event my real question is for those of you who also are swapping back between iOS and Android, what apps have you found that help you manage the 2 different ecosystems? I've tried google contacts, but it always ends up weird, double contacts, etc. I haven't found anything for text messaging except google voice, but no MMS. Music isn't a big deal because I usually stream live. Pictures are tough, dropbox is an ok option but I like the way iOS lets you have "free" space by keeping photostream pics without taking up space.

I used to switch but just committed to the iPhone 5S. I feel much the same as you but realized, I don't play/tweak/customize any more--just too damn busy (damn life getting in the way ) and don't do anything heavy duty with my phone. What I need it for, it does very well with little fanfare but with rock solid reliability. Between that and my family/friends living in an Apple bubble, it's just easier for me to use an iPhone. I also find the experience very consistent, which is what I want. And I'll confess, I like iOS, even iOS 7, everything is where I left it when I left a year ago so when I turned it on yesterday and moved my sim over, had very little to do to get fully up and running--the exact simplicity I seek.

Not to say I'm going Android free though--use a 2nd gen Nexus 7 as my portable tablet. Probably why I also don't have difficulty living with iOS on my phone.

You're already on the right track. Google contacts, calendar, music, dropbox and hangouts make movie over pretty easy.

When I changed over to the GS4 from the iPhone 5 it took about 14 days to get everything moved over with tweaking and experimenting. Though I found no real substitute for iMessage, Facetime, and Siri.

Movie back to iOS/iPhone 5S was incredibly easy.

The lesson is if you are in a closed platform it is a big hassle to move anywhere.

I am on Google cloud and everything works "out of the box" on any platform (pc, mac, ios, winphone and android.

The best thing you can do is get out of apple jail once and for all and you won't have to deal with this platform migration nonsense ever again.

I am an avid Android user. I did however used to use exclusively the Iphone and can understand the pros of it. Sometimes I'm envious of how nice the slow motion feature is. or the UI in certain apps and all. With that said I can't imagine going back. Android has evolved into something great. Not trying to start any arguments but, with Android i can basically have a different experience every day, if i'd like. The ability to change everything is nice. I love my nexus 5. It does have its faults, I'm sure the camera will be fixed in an update. in my opinion I would keep the N5. Then again that is my preference. You mentioned doing work on your phone. Although I cannot comment on work I can say Android works better for me as a student. Either way you get a nice phone! At the end of the day that's all that matters to us phone junkies

Never stopped me. Adapters are your friends--just don't leave them in the phone without a sim.

DEFINITELY Not. Back when I had my GS3, I left the adapter only in the phone, and broke the sim reader when i was trying to pull it out. Had to get a replacement sim reader and fix it up myself-Wasn't too expensive to fix, but still, a lesson learned.

Yep I got them both, have one of those micro to nano SIM adapters.

Keep the nexus 5 in my opinion. Its a much more versatile device.

The battery life on the nexus 5 isn't bad. Its actually better than the iPhone 5 in most tests. Its just not as good as the note III and the other phones with giant batteries.

Battery life is fairly close, the N5 lasts longer, but the 5s charges up quicker. Camera is probably one of my main reasons for staying with the 5s, I wouldn't want to be wondering years later why I don't have any good pics of my daughter.

It's a shame about the camera because I actually like how kitkat works.

Nothing wrong the with Nexus 5.

It's $350 while the iPhone 5s is $650. The 5S is better in every way except screen size.

Hmm, if I even look the wrong way at my 5s it loses 10% battery. I'd say the N5 outlasts it by a good margin with all day use, but that's only anecdotal. The advantage is that the 5s charges up pretty quickly, so a quick run in the car with the phone plugged in keeps it going longer.

I was having the same problem. My iPhone was waaaay outlasting my N5. I ended up rooting my Nexus and installed Greenify. The battery on my Nexus is now comparable to that of the iPhone.

If your having issues with battery life I highly recommend it!
