Uh, does ColorSync work under 10.8?

Recently installed 10.8 GM (yes, I'm a developer) on a testing machine I've got kicking around. One of the first things I did was to import my calibrated HP LP2475W wide gamut monitor profile and select it in the Display preference panel, so that the colours I see in the Dock & Finder aren't comically over saturated.

Once I did this... Nothing changed?

OK, log out, log in... Same thing. Go nuke ~/Library/Application Support/Dock, since I know some stuff is cached in there, then log out and back in. Same thing.

Reboot the computer. Same thing. Recalibrate the monitor and recreate a fresh ICC profile, install that, repeat the above steps. Same thing.

No matter what I do, ColorSync doesn't appear to influence the Finder or Dock anymore. This means that the folders and icons and thumbnails (everything, really) that Finder displays are wildly over saturated and are actually quite difficult to look at. The Dock and Launchpad are in a similar state of disarray.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Oh it gets much worse my friend. I'm learning the hard way why it's bad to be an early adopter.

Not only is the dock wildly saturated (I'm on the HP LP2475w as well, calibrated with a Spyder3Elite), but my monitor now only displays sRGB. My Spyder tells me that my gamut is actually smaller than sRGB atm. Comparing it to a sRGB gamut monitor I used to have, it's in the same ballpark.

Looking at images in Lightroom, everything is in sRGB. It's very obvious in the images with out of gamut colors, like very saturated reds and subtle greens. Just a complete mess.

I'm surprised Mac Performance Guide made no mention of this. I'll be searching for a fix in the meantime.

Turns out Spyder3Elite wasn't working correctly with Mountain Lion. Updating to version 4.0.5 solved this issue. Recalibrations are now resulting in the correct gamut size for my monitor and match the calibrations I made in Lion.

However, the Dock, Finder, and the App Switcher are still ridiculously saturated. It doesn't affect my work but is sure annoying. Oddly enough, when I revert to my Lion calibration, Finder and the App Switcher get fixed, but the Dock icons are still crazy. In my Mountain Lion calibration, everything that's not color managed is crazy.

Unfortunately I'll have to stick with my Lion calibration which has drifted to be slightly less accurate, but is certainly better than having everything in Finder and Quickview nuked.
