And anyway, Apple does happen to sometimes be guilty of patent infringement. It happened with Visual Voice Mail, a company called Klausner, it happened with the iPod interface with Creative Labs.

People really need to stop thinking this is "stealing". It's not like Apple goes out, scours the USPTO's patent database looking for ideas and methods on how to do stuff. Patent infringement can be completely accidental, in fact, most of the time it is as the patent wasn't known to the party prior to him implementing it or something similar enough.

Indeed. I've come up with some interesting uses of technology, only to find out that somebody has patented the idea 10 years ago (in very broad terms). The whole patent system in the US is a mess.
