Uh Oh

Since I got my imac a week ago there have been a few random times when I had to use force quit to exit programs - but today I was on the internet with a few things open and everything froze, I could not quit programs and even rebooting the computer did not help. I tried the wireless keyboard commands to shut down programs and that didn't work (a box popped up asking me if I wanted to quit but I couldn't click on OK). I saw the wireless mouse cursor so I figured it was not a mouse problem. But finally I turned the mouse on and off and things worked again. I don't know what the dreaded "freezing" problem was like - software updater did not apply the update to my imac - so I am wondering what could have happened (and am now slightly paranoid). Could it have been the mouse connection dropping out? (I did have my blackberry on the table - can the two interfere with each other?)
