UI jerkiness with GM1

I have tested GM1 on both a new Macbook Air and new Mac Pro and the UI is extremely jerky compared to Mavericks, particularly when it comes to window resizing. Resizing in column view with several columns up can get so jerky that I'm getting flashbacks of 10.0. I also notice that opening a large fan from the dock is not smooth anymore and even something as simple as dragging windows around seems to have the stutters.

Again, this is on two separate systems which both have current & perfectly competent hardware.

Does anyone else notice this?
 
still notice issues with slight lag in populating icons in grid view etc and glitchy folder animations (where they zoom open from their closed state)

Nowhere near as smooth as on previous 10.9 release (2012 rMbp)
 
The biggest issue for me was full screen on/off animation, especially in finder... It's taking forever when it could be instant if implemented like in other OSes. Take ubuntu for example, as soon as you release the mouse click the window is already maximized, you can't even blink. Frankly, I don't need animations where they are slowing me down. :p

In fact, I think I have a screen capture from my bug report to Apple...

I have reported the UI jerkiness while resizing windows 3 days ago. They gotta fix this.
 
beta 4 here, it is indeed jerky. like dragging a selection of files, resizing windows etc.
 
Very jerky on the GM. Kind of disappointing that this is the GM - just doesn't feel quite done yet. Of course, neither does iOS 8.0x either.
 
I wondered why the UI was slow, then I saw that Image Capture Extension was taking up 6GB of memory. Force Quit - now things are much snappier.

I've got a feeling this isn't the final GM/release. It's called a GM candidate, and I wouldn't be surprised if Apple will release an official GM with several fixes incorporated.

In the meantime, send feedback as a beta tester and/or developer! Before it's too late.

It's a GM Release Candidate. My view is this isn't the only one we will see (hence why we have another PB). I expect them to focus on UI polish now.
 
We may or may not see another GM candidate or else an update shortly after it's released, but the sluggishness should not be a surprise to them.
 
Yosemity need more final improvements such these glitches you already mention.
I believe Yesemite will be ready soon :)
 
I'm getting quite a lot more lag than on Mavericks. I really hope they fix this, I'm on the GM candidate. I found that turning off transparency helps in certain areas. I remember things got laggy with Lion and kept getting better with each release. Hopefully this won't be a step in the wrong direction.
Also I'm really curious, does anyone know why resizing windows is so laggy? It's funny that things which are super smooth on other OSes are laggy on OS X.
Did anything fundamentally change with Lion being released? Like a new 2D UI framework or something?
 
Yep, the UI could be much smoother, especially in the finder. The rubber-band effect isn't smooth at all on my Mac, as well as scrolling and resizing in list view. Curiously, the cover-flow view is smoother, but still not as fluid as Mavericks.

I don't find it so laggy on Mavericks, but I think it has to something to do with double-buffering to avoid the kind of artifacts you see on Windows.

I suppose you haven't compared to Mavericks in all areas as the OP find it jerky even on a new Mac Pro, and everyone else concurred. Try resizing a large Finder windows with many columns, and do the same on Mavericks. See which is smoother.

I actually read something on a forum about that once, this double buffering. That's why I was asking, if it's a choice that Apple made which has certain other benefits I can live with that.
