Does anybody else have UI lag when using the pulldown spotlight search menu? The animation stutters when opening and particularly so when closing - during which the home page apps stay momentarily blurred before snapping back into position/clarity. This is on an iPhone 6 (64GB) - 9.1 made no difference to this (fresh install or upgrade).

ios now requires 2 gig of ram to run smoothly, the 150 new emojis unfortunately take up an incredible amount of space (they use around 1.2gb of ram alone!). it's not like apple advertised ios 9 as being more stable than ios 8 anyway, so expect it to stay that way

iPhone 6 user here.Yeah the spotlight lag is way worse than before on 9.1 In fact there isn't a smooth transition between the icons blurring progressively. It instantly blurs with a hitch and similarly while "unblurring".

If you want to somewhat reduce the problem turn off Siri Suggestions in settings.

I kind of agree about needing more RAM, but I really hope the emojis comment was sarcasm.

Well, the spotlight pulldow action was buttery smooth for me on 9.0.1-9.0.2 and now it laggs.
Wanna hear the fun part ? I'm using the 6s Plus.
I upgraded form the 6 Plus to get rid of the lag.
After 1,000€ and 3 weeks I got the lag back.
Yay ! Thanks Craig & the iOS team.

This also proves that the problem ain't hardware.

Sorry to inform you but I had a typo....I meant my iPhone 6S "plus". And yes I don't see any lag or glitchy frame rate when swiping down to access spotlight

A lot of people say Rose Gold isn't pink.

I'm a freak when it comes to performance, I see every glitch, frame drop or UI bug.
I got my eyes trained like this because I'm a gamer. I go mad when a games dropes frames or has bugs.

I have side by side 3 devices : iPad Air 2, iPhone 6 Plus and the 6s Plus.
The Air 2 is lag free, great device. The 6 Plus is a bad joke.

Now here comes the 6s Plus : it's the best phone Apple ever made.
iOS 9.1 solved a lot of problems and i'm happy. Don't get me wrong, the phone is not acting like the 6 Plus.
It's buttery smooth across every app but after upgrading to 9.1 swipping down dropped a few frames.
That's it. It's not that bad, it's not like the on the 6 Plus, but it's there, and before 9.1 it wasn't

Trust me.

Why did I say RG is pink when I posted this ?
Some people see it Copper, some Pink.
Some people see lag, some don't.

Hello all,

I was not following threads so far because I did not have any problems until today. I purchased my iPhone 6s yesterday and it was working perfectly. It had iOS 9 installed. I upgraded to iOS 9.1 today and have lags when I open apps. Is it a common thing? Anything I can do? Thanks!

Yeah 9.1 made spotlight really bad on my mini 2. For the first time, it actually was almost perfect on 9.0.2, perfectly smooth keyboard animation, blurring was about 40-50FPS but still better than iOS 8! Only animation that improved over iOS 8.

Then 9.1 came along. Blurring is like 20-30FPS, keyboard stutters when it pops up. Quite bad. If you slide down spotlight very quickly/aggressively though, the keyboard is smooth. Really weird. There's also that small pause/lag mid-animation of you swipe down too fast.
