Has anyone hooked their 2018 Mac mini up to a 4k monitor yet? How is UI performance?

Just wondering how the Intel graphics handles the UI. My MacBook Pro with Intel graphics currently gets a little laggy so hoping a new mini will not have the same issue

Yep, I've hooked one up to a Dell 24" 4K monitor, and it works just fine. UI is nice and smooth, no issues with window scaling, scrolling or moving.

Thanks! Which processor / RAM do you have in your mini?

Has anyone with an i3 processor tried a 4k monitor? I don't really perform many CPU intensive tasks so if I can avoid getting a beefier processor that would be ideal.

Does the speed of the processor (I3 vs I5 vs I7) impact the computer's ability to handle 4K? I assumed not, but I have no idea if that's true or not.

No, it will be GPU only. The Window Server process runs on top of Metal (since 10.13) which improved UI performance on Retina display systems like the MacBook Pro and iMac, so system animations on a 4K display should be smooth on the new Mac mini as well.

I was only thinking that since the i7 has 1.2GHz of 'Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency' whereas the i5 has 1.10 GHz.

Also from what I've heard, the i7's larger CPU cache can also help with graphics, however I haven't seen anything concrete on that.
