I have a table view that is embedded in a table view controller. This controller is subclassed. On my device, I can see everything but the top section's header and the first table view cell. I did not do anything to harm the view controller's appearance.

I would read through the iOS 7 UI Transition Guide, especially the "Using View Controllers" section in Updating the UI - Appearance and Behavior.
