Alrighty, I got my mum an iPhone for her Birthday December last year, and it's been on 1.1.1 ever since. I decided that she needed to upgrade her firmware to something a little more up to date and she really liked the look of 2.0 so I was set with the task of doing it for her.

When she got her iPhone, the only thing that was done with it was that it bypassed activation so she could use an O2 pay-and-go SIM card instead of having to be tied to a contract. I have all the tools to unlock 2.0 but I just need to know if it will still function correctly with her current SIM card. I'm sorry if this is kind of a stupid question I just don't really know anything about the iPhone. Thanks in advance!

Hi:

My iPhone is a US AT&T one, and using the Pwnagetool 2.0.1 you can successfully upgrade to 2.0, unlock and activate again, and yes it'll work with an O2 PAYG SIM card as that's what I have in mine.

I'd recommend waiting until the new 2.0.1 firmware is hacked because it fixes a lot of problems with 2.0.

You might want to wait a few days. A new version of Pwnage is due out that'll use the new 2.0.1 firmware and hence lead to improved stability and usability compared to 2.0.
