I'm in the UK. That's important because I can't order from the US because of laws around shipping batteries.

I need a new battery for my MacBook Pro 15in mid-2015 2.8GHz.

I've tried several brands and they've been appalling – ranging from dropping to 80% of design capacity within days, or not working at all.

This might be because I have the more power-hungry 2.8Ghz integrated GPU model. I'm not sure.

Have you had any luck buying batteries?

The "best place" might be Apple itself -- if the Apple Stores there will do a battery replacement on a 2015 MBP.

They might or might not, depending on whether the [OEM Apple] battery is still available to them.

In the USA, the cost is $199. That's a bargain for what you get:
- the new battery
- installation
- a short warranty.

If there are no Apple Stores you can get to, you might call Apple directly.
If they can still do it, they may be willing to send you a prepaid shipping box.
You send it to them, the work is done, they send it back.

Considering the effort involved in fitting a new battery (or rather in removing the original battery) I'm amazed that you should have already replaced the battery several times over.

Apple will replace your battery for £199. What would you want to do it yourself?

i changed my 2015 13” retina’s battery from ifixit a couple years back (back when they don’t receive GBP and only euro). Not sure how fast they will ship or if they would, with brexit now, but worth trying IMO. Capacity has been good, installation kit + guide was really helpful. It was about £120-ish IIRC
