So now we have movies to buy and rent in the UK, will we have digital copies on region 2 DVDs soon?

I bring this up because I have a vague recollection of reading somewhere (probably an article on macrumors) that the reason digital copies weren't available in the UK is because they use the same technology as the rental system on the US iTunes store. Or am I talking bollocks?

I love the idea of having movies saved to my hard disk, but hate the idea of no DVD and downloading movies via torrents.

Thoughts?

I'm hoping that Juno will have a digital copy on it when it's released on Monday.

I've tried looking on the UK Fox site and I couldn't find any information about it.

I'm not sure of the specific of the encoding methods/limitations etc. but I guess you are referring to this article. I guess it will likely become more common anyway so I don't think this will have any specific impact on the timeframe of that happening.

i am legend has been available for a while but it is the only DVD i've seen in the UK with digital copy.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of any UK DVDs with digital copies. At least now we know that they're on the agenda.

However the digital copy available with I am Legend, is just a protected WMV file isn't it?
I remember picking it up in Asda, and reading that.

I say remember, I may have dreamt it!:p
