Right guys, since I'm on the lookout for the 24" Extreme version, I thought I would see how other UK people are getting on.

I ordered online this morning, standard 24" Extreme, due in 2 weeks time. The local Apple shop didn't know when they would be getting any in stock.

I'm interested in shots of a UK spec keyboard, whether they differ to US versions in the same ways the notebooks do.

I was in the Meadowhall store earlier, they had one new iMac on display which an employee was using non-stop lol, along with the usual range of the old model, oh and no mention of the updated Mac Mini.

iLife and iWork were in stock but the keyboards (wired and wireless) were not and they did not know when they would be getting some. Also I was told there is no student discount for software such as iLife; thought there was??

LIES! The education site has it for £50.53. Print that off and take it into Meadowhall. Or order it online. As far as I know the only things you can't get discount on are 3rd-party items, and iPods.

Yeh, I thought that and mentioned the web price to him but he's like no no not on software! For the sake of a fiver I can't be bothered, costs £9 to get there on the train. I'v been told two different things with student discounts on a wireless MM before I bought one, one guy saying yes to discount, the other saying no.

The HE store has it for £35.25 same applies for iWork.

WHAT! Now I'm pissed off (sorry), I'm in college - therefore higher education - I went to get out my student card and he said no!

Well yes, but i VPN into my uni network to get access to the store. But in the past have got the discount from meadowhall store by showing my Ucard.

I live in Manchester, but cannot get to the two stores near me till Friday.

I'm gonna try ringing them tomorow, or I might leave it and just arrive at the store(s)

Like I said I want the 24" Extreme, I would like a bigger HDD tho? Not much chance finding one with that already done?

I'm going to the Arndale store tomorrow, since I rang them earlier to confirm if they have stock. Turns out both the stores have them in stock.

So out of interest what is the discount % for >

1. Apple Store for Education
2. Apple Store for Higher Education

Im a uni student in UK, so i assume if i flash them my Uni ID i will get the Apple Store for Higher Education discount in the store?

Edit: Just read up that local stores only deal with the standard education discount and if you want the higher education discount you have to order online. Great as im not at uni till sept. Maybe i will be able to phone up and get it that way. Do they still offer 3 year free warrenty with higher edu?

Not necessarily, read a couple above.

1.) 8% or £50.53
2.) 36% or £35.25
3.) Have to phone and check and i can't be bothered to do that

Oh wow nice one Shaduu, while your there can you perhaps check on the stock levels? I mean do they have a good supply of 24" Extreme? Cheers pal.

Hmm thanks for that, still though I bought a Mighty Mouse using my college card the other week clearly showing I am 17. The wording threw me as college is often referred to as 'higher education' and uni as 'further education'.

I may call the store tomorrow just to confirm; thanks for clearing that up though

*EDIT* sorry, just remembered, when I bought my MacBook a guy at the store looked for my college (6th form) and found that it qualifies for a discount, however I got my mum to make the purchase as she is a mature uni student and got a larger discount.
