my first ever mac computer, iMac, shipped today.. BUT, the est delivery is 13th (NEXT Thursday)!!!

The courier is LYNX EXPRESS, but I couldn't find how to track the package on their site, as Apples own tracking has always had a delay in updating.

Anyone out there provide a url to track? I know that UPS own Lynx or something, so maybe UPS will deliver? I've no idea...

Thanks

Lucky you! I will order my iMac in the next few weeks, I couldn't find out how to track a package, the only place you can had a consignment number is under proof of delivery, thats not what you want, sorry I couldn't help.

Try your tracking number on the UPS site?
Tried it on the UPS site in the ref number and tracking number fields and it could not find it.. altho it starts with "80xxxx..."

yeah, i tried that as well on the lynx website, but again, it didn't work anyway :(

Congrats on your first Macintosh computer purchase dalvin200. :)
Hopefully your new iMac arrives quickly. Although, the estimated delivery date seems to be realistic of when you will get your iMac.

iMac intel 'Rocks'!!! some advice, buy loads of Ram.. Rosetta is a Ram lover..

I got it with 2GB RAM and 256MB graphics card.. but stuck with the 250GB HDD..
Hopefully it's enough to run leopard too when it eventually comes later this year..

it IS realistic? that it will take 5 business days to ship from within the UK?? that's ridiculous..

i was kind of hoping if it got shipped today, i should have it by friday at the latest? but i can't get any info from tracking, and I called Apple who just gave me the same info (tracking number etc..)

expect it tommorow, i was in the same situation on monday, my ibook arrived tuesday.

it's 4:30am BST, and there is still no info on the apple tracking or UPS tracking :(

hopefully it's all updated by 8am, so i know whether to stay at home and wait

Update

so today is friday, and my iMac shipped 2 days ago - I still have no idea where it is

so i just called apple who said its "somewhere between Cork, Ireland, and the UK"

so there's a floating box somewhere in the Irish Sea - GREAT!! :(

Im pretty sure my imac took about 5 days to get to me. Thats from order - deliver from netherlands - to my door. So i'm guessing monday is more likely than anything!

Get BootCamp running too...

i would if i had xp sp2 on disc.. i only have xp home sp1..

BUT, the whole point is i bought the mac, for a mac.. i still have my winblows pc for the time being, until i get everything transferred and working on the mac.. and i might then *think* about boot camp :D

Ahh ok. Only reason i suggested it was to help the transition and such. I know when i bought my iMac, althought its a G5, i'de have liked a service such as Bootcamp to allow me to carry on using my windowz office CD whilst i waited for my Mac Office to be bought.

But yes, it should be with you soon :D

You can slipstream SP2 and create a new disc !!!

iMac Out for Delivery

So today's the day that I receive my iMac - FINALLY!!!

Seems like an age since it was ordered, but it's only been 7 days!!

Hurry up UPS :)

Will post back on how it all goes - maybe with some pics..

Well, for the time being, I'll have the iMac in front of me, and move the 19" to the right of it which will be connected to the PC.
Hook iMac up to the router and voila.. can network and transfer files and run both OS's at the same time (without Boot Camp.. haha!!)

When I've done transferring files and settings everything up, I'll connect the 19" to the iMac and have extended desktop.

Can't wait!!

Make sure you say in, I went out to post letters when I ordered my first mac, I was walking back up my road and a Lynx van went pass me, i.e. away from my house, I had this horrible feeling! I went home and in my postbox Sorry we missed you! NOOOO! I thought, I phoned them up and tried to get the driver to turn around and get back, it had only been 4 minutes or so, but I had to wait until the next day.

I'd have stood in the road and made sure he stopped.
They did the same with my PowerMac - except I didn't leave the house. I think the lazy git didn't want to climb the stairs with a massive box :D
Hope you enjoy the iMac - they're great machines.
Oh - and advice on slipstreaming XP SP1 to SP2. It means to combine the 2 discs to create a bootable disc that will run under Boot Camp.

It's Arrived!!!!

Just got call from the wife.. my iMac has arrived!!!

thanks for info about the slipstreaming.. now i have (no) excuse to use it and try boot camp :)

ps: i have posted about boot camp on the official thread, but no-one replied, so here's along-shot:

how do you uninstall bootcamp (remove windows)?

thanks, and did i tell you that my iMac HAS ARRIVED???? :D

now i have to wait just over an hour and a half so i can go home and open it in my lunch break :)

woohoo

so i'm now typing this from my 20" iMac!!!

woohoooooooo..

how slightly different this site looks on safari to firefox on pc.. fonts etc..

anyway, going back to work now and will play later!!
