My iPad was bought for me last week in Florida (64Gb 3G version) on Friday and is being shipped to me in the UK using FedEx on their international priority service (for anyone interested, this service this cost $129.90).

If you used FedEx for your iPad, what was your experience? I am specifically interested in the extra changes when it arrives in the UK. You much did you have to pay and was there any delay in customs? Also, did it track accurately on their website?

Thanks

Well, my iPad was sent over via USPS priority mail international and then parcelforce 48 in the UK.

Anyway, when it enters the UK the parcel goes through customs and you have to pay a fee depending on how much the parcel is worth (I think). My seller marked my iPad as $50 value and as a gift so I only got charged £18 but a few people on Twitter I have been speaking to have been charged around £100.

Extra charge will be VAT at around £120 (yes, VAT is charged on shipping...). That will be the only extra charge. :)

That's fast. Did Fedex ask you to pay the custom fees when it gets delivered or is it sorted out later?

Interesting. My iPad cost $888 (including the local taxes in Florida). The insurance on the package is only covered up to the self declared value so I compromised at $500.

According to my tracking status, it's due for delivery tomorrow (not bad considering it left Florida on Friday). Are there any customs issues with Fedex? How is the customs charge normally dealt with? On delivery or at a later date?

There's customs issues with everything coming into the UK. HMRC are pretty hopeless, so it might be held up there for a couple of days. About your second question, sorry I don't know. :)
