UK iPad availability in stores

I'm in the US but would like to have one of my family members in the UK purchase the 32 gig/wifi only iPad as a birthday gift this week.

Are they generally available at the Apple stores over there (Liverpool in particular) or is there still a long wait?

I bought an iPad on Saturday, but the Apple Store near me had no stock at all and all they could do was offer to put me on a reserve list. I got one by going to a nearby PC World who had them in stock there and then. It'll probably be best to try one of those than a regular Apple Store, especially as you can check to see if they have stock on their website and then reserve to pick up at the store.
