Got my iPad delivered today from the states, working an absolute treat so far. My question is for anyone else who's managed to get a hold of one in the UK - does your app store from within the iPad work? Mines says it's not supported yet.

Also, anyone managed to get a hold of the iBookstore or is that aldo limited to the US?

Cheers.

Doubt iBookstore will be up and running till UK launch, prob have a lot of legal publishing things to tie up!!!

You might have to go down the "get a us itunes account via ebay US iTunes vouchers" route like I do with my iphone!!

Open a US iTunes account - buy a card off eBay or there is a link in the iPad UK news thread. Really easy and then you can download apps to your heart's content.

Its a doddle, did it on Sunday afternoon, took about 10 minutes. They email the code off the iTunes card to you, all you do is sign up as a US user. Easy. Then you can get the apps now!

hey glas... it's a cinch to open a US store account...
i've had one for years...

i've downloaded about 10 free ipad apps from the US store... don't wanna get too many as i'll eventually get them from the uk store

So you were happy to go through the hassle of acquiring an iPad from the States but can't be bothered with this easy step?? C'mon, give yourself a shake :)

How are we supposed to live vicariously through your iPad purchase, when you haven't got any apps? You're not doing it for yourself, you're doing it for us......;)

They make a good point.. A couple keystrokes/screen taps and there voila! :D

Mine arrived today from the States (via Bundlebox) and I have to say it's stunning, an absolute pleasure to use.

A US iTunes account is a must if you want to take advantage of all the iPad programs etc. A US iTunes account is easy enough to set up (check the forum here or Googled it) and then use iTunes gift cards from eBay or use this website: http://www.maximuscards.com/ to pay for your content.

It was well worth the effort and expense getting this early.

:)
