UK iPadders: How is your 3g and Wifi connection?

May be taking the plunge next week as PC World branches seem to have good availability on 64ers.

Is 3g reception on a par with your iPhone? I am on O2 with my phone and it's just 'OK'

How has your wifi connectivity experience been with cloud, Starbucks et al? Is your home network stable?

Wifi reception is fine on ap and netgear for me.

3G on o2 as u asked. Hmm let's put it this way. Where I live I get 1-2 bars 3G on my 3GS and 2-3 bars on my ip4. On my iPad it's a solid 5 bars all the time it's great.

Out and about wifi cloud is perfect and so is 3G out and about.
 
I get a better 3G reception than on my iPhone 3G, and wi-fi is excellent most places.

I do get a temporary glitch where my wi-fi drops out on waking from sleep with my home network. It reconnects after a few seconds.
 
I found 3G on O2 to be hopeless - slow and poor coverage. I'm on Three now which is far, far better for both speed (seeing up to and above 2.5Mbps!) and coverage.

As for wifi, no problems to report. I'm on BT Total Broadband and connect via the BT Home Hub 2.0. Performance on BT Openzone has also been fine.
 
I'm on 3 on my iPad and yet to experience any difficulties. I've had constant 3G almost everywhere, with a full signal. No wifi trouble either.

Can't say the same for my iPhone on O2…3G in the centre of Belfast, but not really anywhere else.
 
Can't comment too much on 3G as I've rarely used it but O2 network was just OK.

As far as WiFi goes - not a problem at all. Constant connection at all times using crappy free SpeedTouch router from PlusNET. I'd say the range is ever-so-slightly less than my iPhone 3G but not significantly so.

Just spent 10 days in Bulgaria and our hotel had free WiFi in the reception area and it worked great there too - I think it was a Linksys router I could spy behind the desk.

i think i'm skipping iphone 4 and going to get a 32gb wifi ipad instead. my 3g iphone was sold a while back, so i have to make do with my old 2g and i'll buy one of the 3 mifi things too. darn you ipad :D

Yes I'm along the same lines, no rush at all to splurge on ip4, am really happy with my 3g now its JB and has MY choice of text tones!...so its iPad here I come, it will give me something to do on the train to Waterloo each morning!

I am still undecided I think Ill get the 3g version as there is no wifi in some places I am at night (I drive a cab), but Ive never used the local wifi (still on unlimited with 02 ;) )

I guess I'll have to try the wifi out a bit more (we're kinda still flakey for coverage here in Weymouth)..
 
No issues with 3G or Wifi

I wouldn't chose O2 for 3G coverage though. I used to work for O2, and where I can still use them and influence friends and family to use them. Their 3G coverage though is shocking to say the least.

I work nationally (except for Scotland and NI), and I can say from experience that Orange is by far and away the clear winner when compared with O2 and Vodafone. Vodafone's 3G coverage is slightly better than O2, but it's not great if you are travelling and want to connect anywhere that isn't a city or a largeish town.

I can't comment on 3 because I've never used them. Ironically, I used to have a strong distain for Orange, but credit where credit is due. They're 3G network is very good for speeds and coverage. I still would never use them for voice, for me it would always be a two horse race between Voda and O2. Nationally, they're just not good enough on the voice side IMO
