Seems Barclaycard have declined lots of these today although I was assured they would be fine...

Don't think its Barclaycard, I was told by them that there was no problem and they had not declined it, something to do with Apple

First time ordering via apple. Usually upgrade with Vodafone each year. I’ve got a 2-3 week shipping period. In the past, has this ever changed to an earlier time?

So I checked wallet after ordering this morning to find the Apple Pay payment had been declined by the bank (Halifax). Had to call apple and get them to charge to my card (the same card linked to apple pay...) to get the bank to accept the purchase.
I had read about similar issues last year but it seems it's still not a great option - worth double checking if you used Apple Pay to pre-order.

Same, order went through smoothly for the 3rd Nov then 40mins later the wallet said it was declined. Can't even get in touch with apple via the phone or text chat as they are both full and hang up on me :(

Hopefully I can correct this later and still keep my place in the queue.

What worries me is this:

That is not what my account ends in, is this a general obfuscating thing that Apple do? It's almost as if it's tried to pay through a card that isn't mine... I only have one card set up on Apple Pay.

Interesting (though not surprising) how much difference different devices/network connections makes. iPhone app available at 8.03, website on MBP at 8.08 and iPad app on 4G (Vodafone) didn't load up until I switched to WiFi.

your apple account number is different to your card account details

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT203027

"Once your card is approved, your bank or your bank’s authorized service provider creates a device-specific Device Account Number, encrypts it, and sends it along with other data (such as the key used to generate dynamic security codes unique to each transaction) to Apple. Apple can’t decrypt it, but will add it to the Secure Element within your device. The Secure Element is an industry-standard, certified chip designed to store your payment information safely. The Device Account Number in the Secure Element is unique to your device and to each credit, debit, or prepaid card added. It’s isolated from iOS and watchOS, never stored on Apple Pay servers, and never backed up to iCloud. Because this number is unique and different from usual credit, debit, or prepaid card numbers, your bank or issuer can prevent its use on a magnetic stripe card, over the phone, or on the web."

Yup - go look at your card(s) in Wallet and you’ll see each has a separate device account number.

Mine does this as well, order history with a card ending 4 different digits.....strange and worrying!

I just want the bank to take the money so I know it’s done!!

So I just got off the phone from apple. Looks like my Nov 3rd order won't go through because of the Barclaycard / Apple Pay declines, and I've been pushed back to a DECEMBER delivery!!

The agent was so apologetic. He said he's literally been hammered for the past hour with abuse of angry customers.

I wasn't angry at him, what could he do, but follow orders?

So I've had to place a new order. But wait! Apple haven't cancelled my first one! I wonder if there's still hope...my original Nov 3rd order is at the bottom.

(ignore the extra black box!!!)

So to be clear........ for everyone with Apple Pay declines.....

No one has yet actually had their order cancelled
Mixed responses from Apple who likely don’t really know
Some people already getting emails re Payment failure/request to update (when did people receive these emails??)
Hopefully when site back up later can retry payment having had card unblocked by bank, with no change to delivery date

About right?

This is actually nothing to do with your card account but your device unique ID for Apple Pay transactions, so nothing to worry about:)

Well considering the amount of people that have been declined, once they're all cancelled there might be enough stock again to order for November 3rd ;)

I imagine when the site is no longer restricted we can just change payment method, I can't imagine Apple will push you to the back of the queue due to a temp payment issue.

They shouldn’t do. When it happened to me you just stay in the position you were in
