My 3g has developed lots of tiny cracks around the join of the rear portion of the case .. as it's white it shows quite badly.

I've read other internet articles suggesting Apple are quite happy to swap these out, have any UK owners had this problem and if so were Apple UK as nice? I'll be heading to Regent Street Apple later today with mine ...

Thanks!
M

My Black 16GB iPhone which i have had since launch developed a few cracks around the silent switch and headphone socket. Quite small, but i still went to the Apple store in Southampton. They did a few tests, asked if it had been dropped etc, then replaced it with a refurb. Took about 10 minutes and was pretty impressed with the service etc. That was a few weeks ago now.

Good luck with yours!

My iPhone 3g has cracks around the mute switch. I'll be interested to find out how you get on with Apple.

Did you buy this direct from Apple or from O2/Carphone Warehouse?

I bought mine from O2 online the day of the launch. I brought along all my documentation/proof etc but they did not even look at it. Most of the information can probably be found from the seriel number etc and the tests that they run.

I think I'll take it back to the O2 shop I purchased it from and hope they exchange it, although I'm not sure I'll be happy with a refurbished iPhone in replacement.

I thought i would be unhappy with a refurb, but it seems fine. I checked the serial number and it was made 2 weeks before i received it. Sometimes, refurb ones are better than original ones anyway as they are really thoroughly tested before sent to the stores.

Have heard some stories of people getting brand new ones anyway so you never know. Just make sure you check the new one for cracks before you take it out of the store.

Hope it all goes ok

Forgot to post back on this .. Apple Regent Street swapped it with no questions asked whatsoever - superb service! :)

Cheers,
M
