More iPhone rumors, suggesting that an announcement of the UK carrier and UK launch date are imminent and that O2 are investing £178 million in the iPhone project and that we should be getting some details today.

Also Apple’s Steve Jobs in rumored to be in London at the moment, which adds more fuel to the rumor that he is there, sealing the deal with O2.

Does the infrastructure really cost £178 million

I dunno, but they are bound to sell a lot of iphones here in the UK, plus a lot of new contracts, so I couldn't see a problem with them getting their money back considering how well the iPhone has done in the US so far.

There is apparently an Apple announcement pending according to an Apple employee who said that there were two sealed crates in Regent Street not to be touched until today???

Also Vodafone announced today they are planning to buy Verizon for $160billion. I wonder if this will have any impact on Vodafone's chances of getting the European 'rights' to the iPhone.

Could they make it as 'cheap' to use one of their Euro iPhones on their US network making AT&T's advantage negligible?

I didn't realise figures had been released.
