Yes, browse the US Free App section, download a Free App and it will take you through the setup. It should give an option for no CC.

I think that it will work with a UK itunes account. But only if you and buy synch using itunes on your Mac/PC. The UK account won't work directly on the iPad yet. Most apps are available to purchase on the UK app store, except a few ('critical') ones such as Pages, etc and Scrabble.

That said, I think you can use two itunes accounts (both UK and US) on your Mac/PC and then synch with your iPad. Although when updates appear you will need to switch between the two accounts.

US itunes vouchers available on ebay, but watch the "exchange rate" applied. Normally pretty quick turnaround from the good sellers, i.e. they send you the code via email.

I'm getting my iPad tomorrow, so I've downloaded apps on both my accounts and therefore hopefully it will synch ok during tomorrow... thus I will be testing all the above :)

For whatever reason, I can accesss the UK iTunes store on my iPad but not the app store.

Thanks for the info. Can you expand on 'But only if you and buy synch using itunes on your Mac/PC'. Lost on me I'm afraid.

It's like that for every iPad used with a non us iTunes account. The iTunes store will work but the app store will say "not supported in your country". You will need to login to a us itunes account on your iPad, close iTunes, and then launch the app store.

Has anyone purchased a US iTunes card from eBay? I presume they simply send you the code via email and when purchasing items on the app store, I would need to use the redeem option. Can anyone confirm this please?

Im not having much luck with this. I have signed out of my UK itunes account, scroll to bottom of page, click the flag icon which then brings up all the countries flags, i proceed to press the US one but get a unknown error (-50). I take it im doing this wrong? Anybody do this different? i would love to be able to get a US itunes account.

Cheers in advance

Don't worry about the flag thing. Sign out of the uk account and sign back in with your us account.

How do you get to the US store then? or does the login recongise your login details with your new address?

I am getting confused here. All I want to do is transfer the apps from my iPad Touch to an iPad using a UK iTunes account. I do not want a US iTunes account (unless I need one?)

Sorry to chip in on someone elses thread but I have a couple of questions kind of related to the OPs.

I have a chance of getting a 3G iPad brought to Uk from US in a couple of weeks but am unsure of a couple of things:

1. Will the UK app store work on the US iPad once the iPad launches here in UK? (I dont want to have to use the US store at all)

2. If I buy a 3G in US what are the chances I will get a SIM only (bearing in mind the micro SIM) pay as you go data plan or will all the carriers only be selling the iPad with a data plan combined?

I appreciate that people might not know for definite but there might be some pretty obvious things I aint thinking of.

I really fancy getting the US import cos I reckon it will be much cheaper that way but dont want to be left with essentially a wifi model having paid for the 3G.

I'm sure this has been asked before but when I searched it get loads of results unrelated.

1. I would say yes and I've now both iPad apps downloaded from US and UK stores running on my iPad. To see Ipad apps on UK store search for Ipad then click on the show all link when the search results show.

2. None of the carriers have announced their data plans yet. But Im using the vodafone pay as you go data tariff. £15 for 3gb. Lasts a month. I've cut down the sim to fit the ipad microsim slot. (your own risk if you do it as well) Hoping they will announce better deals next week :)

Hope this helps.

Yes you can do this. But iPad designed apps are better. And already available on UK store just search for iPad.

The App Store app doesn't work on the device, here in the UK, probably because the UK store isn't live yet. It tells me "The App Store is not available in your country".
You can browse and download all the apps on your computer, and sync them via iTunes, with no issues though.
Funnily, the iTunes Store app works just fine.
