Hi all,

Blooming is not much an issue considering if we get deeper blacks. I noticed that when watching Mosquito coast, the screen doesn't show deep blacks and is grayish. Its extremely notable during titles in black background (feel like ash) and display brightness minimum in a dark room

Also in some HDR videos as well. I see blacks as not true blacks but grayish under minimum brightness.

Is it my unit defect or something software can fix ?

Sounds like a defect. Consider returning the product. It should be black

When you say Mexico coast, do you mean Mosquito Coast?

If what you see happens occasionally it’s down to how that content is dealt with and not a hardware issue.

Lol sorry typo.

Ya, I notice it in a dark room, in low brightness... it's not evident in a lit room.

The problem with mini-LED and OLED is that you start noticing that areas of content you believed were black in the past, aren’t :D

The non-black areas (e.g. letterboxing) have always been obvious to me since they're a lighter shade compared to the black bezels.

However, I wasn't willing to subject myself to OLED migraines just to get deep blacks.

Mini-LED is good enough and a vast improvement on LCD, unless you engineer scenarios to complain.

Oh, I agree. I have one and compared Avengers: Endgame 4K HDR (full quality UHD Blu-ray rip) side by side on the 2021 12.9 and 2017 12.9. The 2017 looked good but the 2021 was just more vibrant.

I find the blacks to be barely discernible from the bezels. You can hardly tell where letterbox ends and bezel begins. You really have to look for it.

Anyone else experienced this ? In a dark room, I clearly feel there is backlight in the black background but when used "reduce white points" that's gone and blooming becomes very much visible.

This is a software bug I think.. not sure
