I've been asked to write some basic step by step instructions for one of the company execs who is shortly going to get a 3G iPad.

We've got a corporate allegiance to o2, so will be using their micro SIM, and also it is a little easier to activate the o2 SIM on-device.

The problem is - I can't remember the actual steps that happened when I first signed up.

I think it was
Insert
  1. SIM
  2. Connect to iTunes and get settings and update
  3. I get vague from here on. Do you have to go to the Celular Data section in the Settings app, or does it just prompt you?

Can anyone help?

You have to manually go to the Settings > Cellular Data section and setup an account. I was surprised how awkward this was actually. It's self explanatory from that point on but getting there was accidental.

Perhaps it didn't prompt me because I was at home, within my WiFi?

I found the only way to set my O2 3G up was to switch my home WiFi off, then go on the iPad and select Google or Safari, it will then throw up a link saying that you are not connected to a network and would you like to, then its not to bad:rolleyes:
