Just heard on the morning news (Kiss 101 FM) show that there are further delays to the UK launch of the iPad.

Pre-Orders and pricing details still to be available from Monday 10th May, but not expected before the end of May.

that is not a further delay, per the 14 April media advisory:

http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2010/04/14advisory_ipad.html
Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10. We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason—the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.

They haven't been expected before the end of May for quite a while now.

Sorry that was badly worded. I meant that are not expected "at the end of May" according to this news report. It's going to be into June now before they start arriving.

I'm struggling to find any info on this online to corroborate this, but the sites I visit are American so they wont be awake yet.

I'm kinda hoping the news this morning was just a delayed announcement from UK radio. Will see what happens over the course of the day.

If there is yet another delay into June, I think a lot of people will loose all credibility in Apples ability to deliver.

Loose = lose :p

Still waiting to receive mine from eBay. Crossing my fingers I didn't get a scammer haha

A quick google search shows that in the past couple of hours the usual suspects like electricpig etc are saying the demand in the US could mean another delay for the UK... ummmm is that scaremongering or possible truth. Who knows.

So it's all hypothetical?? Makes sense now though, thanks for helping me.

It annoys me to see UK celeb's showing their's off and we're stuck waiting and waiting.

I'm assuming from the reports on these forums, that there was limited stock of x,y and z models in the US recently is where Apple is holding back stock for the international launch.

There doesn't seem to be a shortage of the WIFI models in the US from what I can tell. As the 3G has only been out a few days, the initial rush/pre-orders has made that a bit more scarce.

I heard shipment delays on another site combined with production issues at the last minute as the screen production was low yield. Looks like us UK folk won't get them for a while :(

When I was in NY recently, even the flagship store had big troubles getting stock - people would come in every minute of the day and the store managers were saying there were production problems. If they are having problems getting iPads in the flagship store it could mean a longer wait for us. Lucky I got one (right time, right place, delivery JUST came in). I actually picked up another to sell on.

Sorry, but how exactly do Kiss FM know this? Nobody knows anything except Apple, and as we all know, Apple never talk. Not even Apple employees will have this kind of information.

FUD.

How much?? Which model?

I think they'll go ahead with the launch but with massively restricted stock units. As in, each Apple Store might have a couple of hundred units and they'll do a few thousand online orders but the majority of the stock being made will still go to the US.

So if you want a bit of certainty of getting one it might be fastest finger first when the pre-orders start. Any idea how long the pre-order window in the US lasted?

I'll stick with eBay until Monday.
Then Pre-Order
Then continue with eBay and see if I can catch a bargain.

Hopefully after Monday, prices will come down a bit (on eBay)

And the week they are due to arrive another big plume of volcanic ash puts an end to all the hope and dreams ;)
