Hi guys, was just wondering what's the best stuff for cleaning my iMac display?

I know generally there's certain things you can't use so looking for a bit of advice, apologies if this seems trivial. I only recently purchased it

A windex-type glass cleaner: ie, a really low concentration glass cleaner. Basically windex is vinegar and water mix.

Spray the windex onto a soft cloth, and rub softly. If there's any streaks or dust left over (windex shouldn't leave streaks with the right cloth) then take a microfiber cloth and buff it out.

The same can be done to the anodized aluminum, only apply a little less windex to the cloth. They're both hardy materials, so cleaning them shouldn't be that troublesome.

If it's a model with glass in front of the screen (aka the aluminum models) then Windex works best IMO. If it's not then avoid Windex like the plague and just use a damp cloth

Be careful with windex or alcohol-based cleaners. Over time, they will wear away the finish (not the glass).

You should be able to pick up the wipes at an eyeglass store. I believe they opened up a few Best Buy stores in the UK...right? If so, I know they have them there.

I use iKlear it works great on my current computer and it doesn't leave any smudges as well. The package i got also included the solution, 1 large microfibre, 1 small microfibre and also some travel wipes which are always handy but this stuff has been great i also use it for the computer casing itself.

That's why its only recommended to use it on the aluminum models which have glass over the LCD. If its not one of those models where it's just a bare screen, then it'll start to turn the screen yellow after a while

I've been using windex and a microfiber cloth, never had any issues, and cleans really well..

i use iklear, orderd from a us site, cant remember the name, they shipped to europe.

great stuff, same stuff the apple dudes use in the store aswell

I'd really be careful about anything with ammonia in it. We know stuff can get from outside the machine to under the glass (insect stories). I'd worry about the ammonia vapors doing something to the actual LCD panel. I use a cleaner safe for non-glass LCDs (Monster Cable).

AND, as most probably know..... cleaner goes on the microfiber cloth, NEVER on the screen.

Once again, the aluminum iMac has glass over the LCD screen, so ammonia based cleaners can't do anything to the LCD. Plus you always spray the cleaner on the towel/cloth you're using to clean with, not spraying onto the computer.
