Hello Everyone,

I know there are a few posts about this but I can't find a definate answer.

1. I am in the UK - using U.S gifts cards
2. Have Apple TV setup with my U.S account
3. Can by music, music videos, TV shows all OK
4. When I try to rent a movie I always get an error message

"Apple TV is not authorised to play this content" I can rent movies on my pc via itunes and that works but not from Apple TV.

Any ideas? What have I missed?

Thanks, Snapper!

This seems to be a hardware fault. One member reported that he returned his AppleTV, got a replacement, and the replacement worked fine. I haven't yet tried to return mine but will be doing so shortly.

Yeah mine works fine to and i live in the Uk . Downloaded the brave one yesterday went to play it and said not authorised but we had turned off the wifi by mistake seems like it has to be connected to wifi the first time u play a rented movie, now it will play with wifi network turned off.:apple:

have you registered?

have you registered your apple tv via iTunes?

I skipped this part and was wondering if I needed to do this?
Can't believe that this rental piece does not work

I'm not sure if you have to, but in my case I registered it to my fictional address. Although mine's from ebay and I'm not too worried about warranty etc. YMMV.

Anyway, it all works well for me. Loving the airtunes part.

Try again

Something similar happened to me yesterday when I bought a tv show.

I just tried again and then it worked.

I just had the same error message last night, trying to play two different movies. The rentals had 16 days left but refused to play. I was forced to buy one of them over again, and also sent a message to Apple support.
