I currently have a 14 Pro but thinking I maybe, if I upgrade, to try 15 Plus, as prices getting silly for max.

I had 12 before, and never really got on with the ultrawide camera. It just seems to get poor perspectives for me, I don’t know nothing about photography, and just point and click tho, and then blame the iPhone!!

But if I’m going back to non Pro, why don’t Apple go with dual, and chose a zoom instead of ultrawide? Do more people use the ultrawide over a zoom?

Is it just me taking rubbish pics?, where do you use the ultrawide? In what scenarios? I just think it sort of “fisheye’s” the pic.

Ultrawide has far more utility than zoom. In many cases, you can’t stand back further. Think indoors and taking photos of landscapes. Regarding zoom, you can always zoom in digitally - it won’t be as sharp, but it’s there.

Apple preserves zoom for more expensive product because more people know how to use zoom and prefer it to the specific ultrawide. They could but then who would pay extra for the pro lineup?

For zoom, you can crop or walk closer to the subject.

For wide, sometimes it's just not possible to do anything, when your back is against the wall and you have to get the whole room.

I think Apple (and Samsung btw) have it right for including ultrawide over zoom.

Which is correct - the issue is that UW on iphone is very bad - it is on the level of being good for snapchat, tiktok and other 4 inch sized places.

I personally don't find it that terrible, and when you got no other choice, it's better than not capturing the whole scene.

I prefer the zoom and wide cameras, too, but a lot of folks appreciate the ultra wide for its "dramatic" photos. Plus, the same camera can be used for macro photos, and for Center Stage when used with Continuity Camera.

That said, while my dream phone is an iPhone 15 Pro mini, I'd settle for a mini with just a wide and zoom lens.

I understand the ability to get more in if back against a wall, but I’ve took a few to do something similar and it makes the photo of the things/people on edge all out of perspective.

Maybe it’s me as I say I just point and click. Zoom, you can as said, just walk closer if need be, but easier to use an actual optical/different lens to get it without digital zoom
