yep, otherwise they'll try three times and then you have to pick it up from the local dispatch center.
If no one is home at all, you can go to your order status and print out a pre-authorization form. You leave it outside your door and they'll put the package where u tell them to. Factors play into this though. I heard some rumors that Fedex doesn't accept these forms and if you live in a not-so-good neighborhood, I wouldn't trust leaving a package outside like that.
