Unable to add gmail account to mail

Get stuck on this add account screen. See image. Allow button turns a very light blue, but no option to continue to next step. Have tried selecting "Google" and "Manual'' on add account menu. Google mail app works on iPhone. Google account works under the Mail program on Mac, as well has via Safari.

NOTE: Few days ago, on iPhone almost all gmails saved in sub-folders in the iPhone mail program (except in box and one sub-folder). Those emails disappeared on all versions of gmail (app, browser, MacMail). Deleted gmail account from iPhone mail program. But can't add account back.

Suggestions please. Thanks.

1. Do not recall if the gmail account in iOS mail was POP or not. Selected "Google Mail" in the list of accounts that the iPhone 'add an account" presented. FWIW: Just used same method and are not presented with any of the setting choices (as expected). Goes directly the page where I get stuck.

Looks like you've been IMAP so that wouldn't explain why your emails disappeared.

The adding account problem is not something I can help with, I'm pretty sure.

I hadn’t tried again, until your post. I just now added the gmail account with no difficulty using same procedure as before.

The only thing that changed was some updates to the iPhone software.

Sorry I can’t be more help.
